D.R. Charles Environmental Construction has the capability of sampling soil surrounding an underground storage tank while the tank remains in place. We take soil samples throughout Connecticut including, Orange, CT, Bridgeport, CT, Trumbull, CT, Monroe, CT, Stamford, CT and surrounding areas.A bore hole is created along the sides of the tank and to the depth of the tank. Soil samples are collected, composited, and analyzed by a state certified laboratory for Extractable Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (ETPH).

CONTAMINATED SOIL REMEDIATION & SITE RESTORATION IN EASTON, CT & SURROUNDING AREAS

Underground storage tanks that have become corrosive and contain pin holes will leak #2 fuel oil into the ground and contaminate the soil. The State of CT Department of Environmental Protection requires notification of such leaking in underground storage tanks and will assign a spill number to the property. This information stays on record with the D.E.P. until the appropriate documentation has been provided to them stating the contamination on the property has been remediated. D.R. Charles Environmental Construction will excavate all contaminated soil and haul it to a processing plant for proper treatment and disposal.

Once the contaminated soil has been excavated, a total of 5 soil samples are collected and analyzed for Extractable Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (ETPH) by a state certified laboratory. Site restoration occurs at this point. D.R. Charles will back-fill the excavation site with compactable, clean fill and grade the area. Fine screened topsoil, grass seed, and hay will be applied where necessary. A closure report containing final soil results, waste manifests from transporting the contaminated soil, and a letter of documentation will be sent to the homeowner, State of CT D.E.P., and the local city or town Fire Marshal.
